My name is Disa Märta SunnerstamA Visual Artist, Photographer, Graphic designer
I grew up in Stockholm, Sweden. I lived there until I moved to Dalsland to study Form and Design at Stenebyskolan after highschool in 2019. I continued my studies within the field of graphic design while freelancing on the side. I am currently doing my BFA in Photography at the Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
My work is heavily influenced by what is around me, my swedish heritage and the culture that comes from it. I explore themes of self search, sense of home, nostalgia and belonging. There is a deep serch for finding and creating the world i so desperatly want to live in, a world of forest creatures, light, small trails of water, a world where a fire is an entire city filled with inhabitants working together to keep the fire going. A place where a rock is a space shuttle and I can sit on a branch in a tall tree and watch the ants build their house.
I am inspired by big old buildnings, collections, geometric shapes and compositions, the small details of life and nature.
My creative work is a mix of the rule-loving, graphic, organized and straigh-forward Disa, and the organic, mystical, mythical and colorful being Märta.
Both are me and I am both.
